Why We Built This

A Platform Built Out of Frustration

Hardcore Online Gaming was founded because we couldn't find the platform we wanted to exist. There were plenty of review sites. Plenty of news outlets chasing the same press releases. Plenty of social media accounts posting reaction content.

What was missing was something that treated gaming knowledge seriously — a place where you could test your understanding, explore the history and mechanics of the medium you loved, and read editorial content written by people who genuinely cared about the craft of game design rather than chasing page views.

So we built it. Hardcore Online Gaming launched with a simple philosophy: this is for the players who love games enough to want to understand them, not just play them.

How HOG Grew

2022 — Foundation
The Idea Takes Shape

James and Priya begin discussing the gap they see in gaming media — a lack of knowledge-focused, quiz-driven content for serious gaming enthusiasts. Initial planning and concept development begins.

2023 — Build
Platform Development Begins

Elena joins the team and begins designing and building the HOG platform. Tom comes on board to manage community relationships and help develop the editorial voice. The first quiz prototypes are built and tested with a small group of volunteer testers.

2024 — Launch
HOG Goes Live

Hardcore Online Gaming launches publicly with an initial set of three quizzes and five long-form articles. The response from the gaming community exceeds all expectations — within the first month, the platform reaches fifteen thousand unique readers.

2025 — Growth
Expanding the Platform

Monthly readership surpasses forty thousand. The quiz library expands to over fifty interactive tests. The team grows, the article archive deepens, and HOG establishes itself as a genuinely distinctive voice in UK gaming media.

How We Work

Editorial Principles

Everything published on Hardcore Online Gaming goes through an editorial review process that prioritises accuracy, depth, and genuine usefulness to readers. We don't publish for speed — we publish when something is ready, thoroughly fact-checked, and genuinely worth reading.

Our quizzes are reviewed by at least two team members before publication, with particular attention to question accuracy, result quality, and difficulty calibration. Where questions touch on historical or technical facts, we verify against primary sources rather than secondary coverage.

Our articles are written by team members or trusted contributors with direct expertise in the subject matter. We don't outsource to content farms, we don't use AI-generated text, and we don't publish content that fails our own quality standards simply because we need to fill a schedule.

When we get something wrong — and occasionally we do — we correct it promptly, transparently, and without burying the correction. This platform stands on its credibility, and we take that seriously.
